TIXOVER
-
Tixover was recorded in Domesday as part of the King's manor of Ketton. It is a small village and manor located about two miles south west of Ketton. Remains of a Roman villa were uncovered near Tixover Grange, supporting evidence of Roman occupation in this area.
-
In the early 12th century, Tixover was established as a chapelry of Ketton, administered by the local prebend of the Diocese of Lincoln, who was based at Ketton.

The Church of St Luke is magnificently located, isolated from the village in fields close to the River Welland. It has a complete unbuttressed 12th century tower with triple round-headed bell stage, while the rest of the structure is largely 13th century. This matches the date of building work at Ketton, which was also administered under the prebendary.
